mood: “incondicional” by luan Santana
To get in the writing mood, I typically need music playing. I also work best in my bed. I’ve heard from just about everyone of my peers that this is a death sentence for their productivity. You know what’s a death sentence for mine? The Internet. So long as I have music and limited access the web while working, I’m G-O to the O-D-Y.*
I’m more of a creative person and I’m musically inclined so I love to listen to all kinds of music, even if it’s not in my native English language. In elementary school, I was selected to sing in a choral group that performed at the Bass Performance Hall. I qualified for my middle school band – everybody wasn’t able – and played the alto saxophone from 6th grade to 12th grade. During that time, I cultivated a musical palate and deep appreciation that really should be donated to the Smithsonian after my unfortunate, and hopefully extremely delayed, passing.
You will notice at the beginning of each blog post, I will have a line that shows what song I am listening to or just finished hearing, a song I really like, or what helps describe my general countenance. With the help of my good friends at Apple, I've managed to collect over 1,000 music files that would take me days to listen to. This means I should have enough songs to include in the “mood” section that will appear at the top of each blog post I write for several posts to come; but fear not if you see a mood repeat. If it seems as though I’ve run up to the DJ and told him to run it back on replay, just know it’s a super important song. Like, “30 on the chain, where’s the champagne?” important. (Link audio NSFW. Plug in your earphones.)
I look forward to sharing my musical taste, along with my thoughts, with you all!
